This is another biography of a Northern Ireland Prime Minister whose biography had never been written.
The book highlights the largely unsung and forgotten contributions made by this diligent and devoted man who led the Province during the disastrous air raids of early 1941 and welcomed the American troops to Northern Ireland in 1942.
The book also includes short biographies of his three extraordinary brothers – Thomas of ‘Titanic’ fame; James, the Lord Chief Justice and William, probably the most outstanding cricketer of his day.
Clive Scoular’s biography is brisk and crisply written and shows a commendable dedication to researching a somewhat marginalised figure. News Letter, December 2004
…well presented and a fitting tribute to the family. Reverend David Richardson, January 2005
