James Chichester-Clark

James Chichester-Clark: Prime Minister of Northern Ireland

Clive saw a gap in the information available on some of Northern Ireland’s Prime Ministers and about researching and writing the first biography of its fifth Prime Minister, James Chichester-Clark, and published this, his first book, in 2000.

It charts his political life, particularly during the dark days of 1969, as well as examining his private life before and after his term as Prime Minister.

Clive had unprecedented access to Lord Moyola himself during the writing of the book and these interviews were essential in helping to give a rounded picture of the man as he was then and in his twilight years.

Lord Moyola attended the launch of the book in Belfast’s prestigious Linen Hall Library in December and was happy to sign books and chat to the other guests. Sadly, Lord Moyola died in May 2002.

The book was well received and is now an integral book listing on History courses in universities throughout Ireland.
